At the presentation of the new Porsche Cayenne Electric in July 2026 in Vienna, zactrack SMART provided automated tracking for five vehicles, ensuring they remained precisely illuminated even while in motion.

The Porsche Cayenne Electric (Type E4) is the first fully electric SUV in the model range and has been available in Austria since 2026. Last June, Porsche Zentren Wien invited guests to Vienna’s Werkshalle for the presentation of the new model.
zactrack SMART was used to stage the five vehicles as well as an ice cream truck. The system consisted of a main and backup server, eleven anchors, and ten trackers. 4Events GmbH served as the technical service provider for the event, while on-site implementation was handled by Getec Eventtechnik GmbH, supported by zactrack experts Martin Zniva and Andreas Fink.
Automated Followspotting for moving Vehicles at a Car Show
To automatically follow the vehicles with light during the presentation, four dimmer zones were set up using zactrack Autofunctions, with the corresponding moving lights assigned to each area.
As a vehicle moved through a zone, four or eight fixtures automatically took over the followspotting, tracking it throughout that area. When the vehicle entered the next zone, the previous fixtures automatically faded out while the next set took over, seamlessly continuing to follow the vehicle. This created a fluid interplay of movement and light across the entire presentation area, ensuring that each vehicle was precisely highlighted throughout the show.
zactrack was integrated with the ChamSys console via sACN. Using the live position data provided by zactrack, the fixtures could automatically follow the vehicles across the presentation area.
In total, 24 Robe Arianne 6 fixtures were controlled via zactrack SMART.
Two Trackers per Porsche Cayenne Electric
Each of the five vehicles was equipped with two zactrack trackers. One was mounted externally in a small black velvet pouch beneath the front windscreen wiper, while the second was positioned inside the vehicle on the rear parcel shelf.
Both trackers were assigned to a single “Actor” within zactrack. This allowed the system to accurately determine the centre point of each vehicle, while the second tracker provided additional reliability for position tracking.
The team required around two hours to set up and calibrate the zactrack SMART system and the fixtures. Once completed, the system was ready for the presentation, tracking the positions of all five vehicles in real time and ensuring precise lighting of the new Porsche Cayenne Electric, even while in motion.
